Explore All FAQsWe strive to make our trips accessible to any age and most physical capabilities. Some notes on necessary physical demands:
- Guests need to feel comfortable taking a large step down into the zodiac when loading from the boat.
- When loading into/out of the zodiac, guests need to swing one leg over the side of the zodiac, gain steady footing with that leg, then swing the other leg over. Guests can anticipate a larger step down into the water from the side of the zodiac.
- On Island Roamer and Odyssey, guests need to climb up and down a small, secure ladder to access the zodiac.
- All vessels have a staircase, with railing, accessing below deck.
Your captain, crew/mate, chef and naturalist make up the team that will safely and expertly guide you through the BC & Southeast Alaska wilderness. While all crew are experts in their field, appropriately certified, and safety-conscious, it is the charismatic and approachable nature of our crew that really sets our trips apart. Captains will happily regale guests with stories of the coast from the wheel, chefs may welcome guests into the galley to chop & chat, and naturalists are always more than eager to share any and all knowledge they have of their beloved coast.
Every crew member brings a distinct and personal touch to a sailing, and their deep passion for the coast is a consistent highlight to every guest. See all the wonderful people who make up the Bluewater Adventures crew on the Our Crew page.
Focusing on a “family style” serving format, meals are a time for guests and crew alike to serve themselves and gather around to recount their day’s highlights over a fresh and nourishing meal, enjoyed inside our spacious wheelhouse, or outside on deck where the lapping waves provide dinner’s musical backdrop.
If given appropriate notice, our chefs can work with most dietary restrictions including vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, and most allergies. Working within the small galley space, and perhaps around some dietary restrictions, our chefs cannot always accommodate dietary ‘preferences.’
We experience a range of weather across our 5 month operating season. Winds can be anywhere from gusting to light, rain ranging from non-existent to heavy, temperatures ranging between chilly and hot, so we advise guests to come prepared for all options. Refer to our What to Bring page for a more detailed packing list.
When underway on the water, it always feels a little cooler than the actual temperature listed. And though operating in the rainforest, we do experience many days of sunny, clear conditions.
All vessels are thoughtfully put together to create a comfortable and appropriately provisioned home base for our guests. Across all our vessels, cabins come with full bedding sets and electrical outlets, showers are outfitted with organic shampoo, conditioner and soap, and our wheelhouse is equipped with enclosed seating and binoculars.
Guests are responsible for bringing all of their clothing and outerwear for their trip. Complimentary beer and wine is served at dinner, however should a guest prefer a cocktail, they are welcome to bring their own provisions onboard. For guests onboard Island Roamer and Island Odyssey, bath towels are the guest’s responsibility.
Bluewater Adventures does not allow the use of cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or vape pens onboard.
